Hi,
I'm looking for websites/projects about sharing street level photos (with API).
Background: First: Some argue that Photo Mapping is efficient and
ensures users have been there: See [1]. Second: I'm planning to add
new features to the Kort game (http:/play.kort.ch ) which runs on
mobile browsers (sry, no Firefox yet 'cause of SenchaTouch/HTML5).
This is a gamified mobile web app for capturing OSM data. It has
already been translated in about 19 languages(!) and has worldwide
coverage except parts of US (because of server resource limitations).
There we plan to add a feature to upload photos. Beyond the above
mentioned advantages photos give additional opportunities (1) to get
rewards ('Koins') for uploading and rewards, (2) for veryfing photos
and (3) for letting users extract missing tags like streetnames.
I'm not keen to program yet another webservice. But from a Kort client
point of view we need (1) single sign on, (2) CRUD (ie.
upload/download/update metadata/delete) capabilities and (3) an
acceptable license.
I looked at the Wiki site about Photo Mapping [1] and cleaned up
section 'Websites/projects about geolocating photos'. There
OpenStreetView [2] is mentioned but seems to be little bit neglected.
Then only Flickr [3] remains but which does not allow single sign on
(we use OAuth with OSM or Google account).
Does anyone know of other web services - or knows of corresponding
repositories/developments?
Are there unsurmountable legal concerns - or is there simply only a
small interest in Photo Mapping?
Yours, Stefan
