+1 on having a meeting of interested parties. I am always game. ;)

As for mapping events that are trying to be more inclusive - I've been really impressed with the Maptime initiatives in SF and PDX. We have started one in NYC that follows their example -- taking broader views on mapping tools and questions. It is not OSM specific, but OSM is definitely part of the toolkit. 

Would love to talk about that more as well.
