[Geocoding] OpenStreetMap XML data for Scotland

Dear Sir/Madam,



I am an MSc in GIS student at the University of Edinburgh undertaking my
master’s project on the subject of the need for a central place name
gazetteer for Scotland.  My research has two objectives;

*1) **To *identify and survey the gazetteers currently available in Scotland

*2) **To *demonstrate the value of a central list of place names in linking
services

To this end I am in need of your assistance.  I have attempted to download
the OpenStreetMap XML data for Scotland but I am restricted to manually
selecting a very small area.  I was wondering if you would be able to send
me the OpenStreetMap XML data for Scotland? Or if this isn’t possible allow
me to download larger aras of XML data at a time?
