We are in the middle of some larger structural changes, among
them the build system. So master is more bleeding edge then
usual and the standard installation docs do not
apply anymore. I really wouldn't recommend it for production
until it has settled a bit more. The commit I mentioned is
still fine, it's also the version currently running on osm.org.
