Greetings
First of all, thank you for giving me your precious time.
My name is Ishan Sethi. I am from Delhi, India.
I'm pursuing my graduation in Bachelor of Technology from the SRM Institute
of Science and Technology. Currently, I'm in my 3rd year.

I feel that the crime rate in the world is increasing & so it becomes a
major issue for everyone. While traveling safety is a major concern. So, my
idea is to add a Safest Route from the starting point to the
destination. So for the implementation of the Safest route, we need to get
the crime data of places & then based on the criminal activity, we rate a
safety rating to the roads/zone. Now, these ratings will work as weights of
path & so we can find the safest route accordingly.

>From the survey reports -

1) More than 91 percent of crimes in Delhi in 2021 — including theft,
extortion, and rape — were allegedly committed by first offenders with no
past criminal record, data shared by the Delhi Police shows.

2) Delhi Witnessed 15% Rise In Crime In 2021 As Compared To 2020: Data

3) Among 19 metro cities, crime rate in Delhi highest in 2020. The NCRB
report, released on Tuesday evening, showed that police stations across the
city registered 245,844 cases under different sections of the IPC.

These stats/reports clearly state that the crime rate is increasing &
something needs to be done to bring an end to the crime to make the world a
better & a safe place.

This is why I'm trying to add a Safety feature to the map so that the
person using the OpenStreetMap safely reaches their destination.

For example:
Chicago Crime Data <https://www.kaggle.com/datasets/chicago/chicago-crime>
This is the Crime Dataset of Chicago for the year 2016. If we take a look
at the above dataset, we only need 4 things: the date, the crime type, X &
Y coordinate. So, we can update this dataset to the previous year 2021 &
use that data.
Now, after updating the dataset, we can rate the criminal activities &
accordingly give weight to each road/zone. Then we can find the Safest
Route accordingly.
I feel this feature will help a lot of tourists as well as the local people
while traveling.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this idea. Please do get back
to me, if you think this idea has any credibility so I can finish my
proposal.

Thank you for your precious time.
Yours sincerely,
Ishan Sethi
