Hi Harshita,
there are a couple of requirements to fulfil to be considered for the
project.
First of all, you need to show that you have spent some time with the
software and familiarized yourself with the code. For Nominatim that
means setting up the development environment on your local machine.
Please see
https://nominatim.org/release-docs/latest/develop/Development-Environment/
Once done, you should really start working with the code. Pick one of the
issues over at https://github.com/osm-search/Nominatim/issues
and make a PR. Alternatively you can also write additional tests or help
with making the documentation more clear.
Finally, we require that you get some familarity with OpenStreetMap.
Just having an account is not enough. Learn how to contribute to
OpenStreetMap and make some edits.
I hope that helps getting you started.
Kind regards
Sarah
