The Internet Standard is IETF RFC 3339,
"Date and Time on the Internet: Timestamps",
http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc3339.txt
An example of their format is 1985-04-12T23:20:50.52Z
which contains colons and hyphens. So the rest
of our syntax should perhaps not use colon or
hyphens as a separator between dates.
