Hi all -
Here's a quick update on what's going on.
The 2015 NEH Office of Digital Humanities Implementation Grant
<http://www.neh.gov/grants/odh/digital-humanities-implementation-grants>
packages went live yesterday. W00t! Guidelines
<http://www.neh.gov/files/grants/digital-humanities-implementation-feb-2015.pdf>
are here...
As discussed in prior email, we're still figuring out the specifics of the
proposal, but I believe the overall goal that's emerged from our
conversations is something like this:
- Respond to community feedback at the NYPL conference - See if we can
build momentum around OHM as a central platform to be used by multiple
organizations or institutions, rather than having those organizations build
and maintain their own separate and segregated systems and data set
- Find one or two test partners - possibly from the attendees at the recent
NYPL conference who might be interested in sharing their data and tools as
a test case
- Build or improve whatever tools are required to support this effort
I've posted a draft of our submission, along with embedded instructions,
here
<https://docs.google.com/a/gwhat.org/document/d/1DQKIWJThqSyMTNLu1_T_YXHLf0X9lh-gNnPK092TcU0/edit>
.
There's not much in the doc right now, but I expect we'll be divvying up
some of the work and it should start to flesh itself out soon.
The deadline for submission is 18 Feb, but we have been encouraged to try
to submit a quality draft by mid January for review and critique.
As for the tricky topics of recruiting a project leader and project
participants, I've been working to set up meetings with interested parties
& am bugging the heck out of one likely candidate to see if he can steer us
to a good project lead. No names yet!
I'm hoping we can discuss this at another hangout later in the month,
possibly on the 18th or 19th. Stay tuned for more news there.
Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions!
Thanks,
Jeff
