New email client and vacation so I missed this last week -
That paper and project did stand out (as did Rob¹s on WW1 troop movements)
as nice exemplars for OHM - and even the Orbis Initiative I¹d drawn up.
The workshop Rob refers to was about peer review of geo humanities
projects; not much thunder I¹m afraid.
Speaking of Orbis Initiative, just learned our strong proposal for a big
NSF grant was not successful ‹ rated as Œcompetitive¹ but dinged for
missing support letters. I had been specifically disallowed from
submitting the very nice ones I¹d gathered. Yes, a Catch-22. There were
also some misunderstandings on the part of reviewers about the
relationship of the OI project to the ORBIS:Rome project done here (there
was less than they imagined).
Ah well. I¹m taking a break from thinking about crowd-sourced geospatial
infrastructure and getting back to Topotime
