This is awesome!
The project sounds great & your site is very impressive!!
For your dev efforts, let's take this offline with the dev team and we can
fill you in on some of the customizations to iD that we've already made in
a separate fork and to help get your dev environment up and running. We're
trying to bring the OHM stack up to date with mainstream OSM.
I'd also love to learn more about how what features OHM would need to
better support your heritage mapping efforts. The workshops sound fantastic.
Yes, there are plans to get Overpass up and running, but I'm not sure how
soon that will happen. If it's not clear, the editing environment for the
time-slider example is actually www.openhistoricalmap.org. So, edit it
openhistoricalmap and then see the results in either the OHM site or in the
time slider. The time slider/vector tiles are pulling directly from the OHM
database with frequent updates. I'm currently using JOSM to make edits,
using http://www.openhistoricalmap.org/api.
Right now, the project is supported by private contributions and has
sufficient funding for the next few years, but we could use all the help we
can get! Particularly in the dev and development area! : )
Looking forward to talking further!
Thanks,
Jeff
