additionally, while start_date and end_date values would be nice
it may not be readily available. i can generally point to years where
i know where the alignment of a road was, but digging out when a
realignment or an expansion might have occurred can be hard. my
work on the Long Island road network to support my effort to map
the routes of the Vanderbilt Cup races is an example.
