Why nightly?  I use to do this for the Ph map for the almost a year.
Then, I asked the users how often do they upgrade/update garmin maps:

weekly - 34 (44%)
every two weeks - 20 (26%)
monthly - 	23 (30%)

Unless there is a disaster activation where data is updated beyond
"normal" frequency, I think weekly is perfectly OK for most users.
Just a thought.
