[HOT] [diversity-talk] totally seeking 'other'

In regards to ensuring a diverse team, it's certainly important to reach
out to underrepresented groups. But the means of doing it is just as
important. One of the best ways to reach out is to sponsor a conference for
an underrepresented group, and set up a booth there where you can talk to
potential recruits. For example, I've gone to the Out for Undergraduate
Technology Conference for the last two years, and quite a lot of companies
have shown up to hire LGBT college students in tech. There are many similar
conferences supporting underrepresented groups (gender, race, sexual
orienation, etc.) in various industries, most of which I'm a little too
lazy to look up right now.

I'm glad MapBox is looking for some diversity to add to their predominantly
white and male team. My point is, no matter which route they take, it will
need more effort than a tweet looking for non-white-males.

(white genderqueer here, for the record)
