[HOT] GIS for climate change/land-use change mapping and analysis

Dear all,

As I will be starting a PhD in the respective area, I would like to get a better insight in the use of GIS for land-use change mapping and analysis, esp. with regards to climate change. 

Does anybody know of specific trainings in this area or research institutions that focus on that?
