Hi all,
Following is a much awaited update on the Missing Maps leaderboard, TM
stats and OSM stats api. Please feel free to share and repost to channels
you feel would appreciate this.
As many of you know, we currently have a two week delay on all stats that
are being supplied by the OSM stats server. The problem arose due to
outdated software and code dependencies that have not kept up with
inevitable changes in SSL certificates that we (and our applications) rely
on. If upgraded, this may lead to critical failure of all dependent
products. The tech team has already identified the core issues and is
working hard to scope possible fixes that will minimise disruption. The
following steps will be undertaken in sequential order.
1. By Wednesday Oct 20, will attempt an upgrade to the server. Best case,
everything is working as per usual by Wednesday next week. Probability of
best case, around 30%
2. If the upgrade is unsuccessful, By Friday Oct 22, we will debug the
issues and scope efforts for three potential scenarios: i) resolve problem
dependencies, ii) provide interim solution, iii) OSM stats overhaul
3. We will then discuss with key stakeholders the implications of each
scenario and possible disruptions and make a decision on how to proceed
together.
One important note. Please be assured that all your efforts are still
contributing to OSM and data is not being lost. The leaderboard and TM
stats are merely representations of data already available (and intact) on
OSM. You can still see all your personal OSM contributions here >

We really appreciate everyone reporting the issues as they have faced them
and apologise for the disruption. As this is a jointly owned and developed
project we will require collaboration to both identify the best way forward
and develop the solution.
Kindness,
Bo
