Answers in-line:

1. Long and repetitive road names:

a. Elkmont Campground Road A, Elkmont Campground Road G, Cades Cove
Campgruond Segment H

b. Perhaps the long name could go into official_name, with the name=
left blank?

2. Some time ago, there was lengthy thread on the whole "official
name" issue. We agreed to use official name, and at import time, would use
name and official name with the same "name". OSM mappers/park visitors are
encouraged to update/modify the name tag with "local" or alternative/short
name. We have used some alt names, such as for the back country campsites.

3. For: amenity=toilets Do you know if it is
toilets:disposal=pitlatrine?

4. At this time, we have/are not capturing specific method of restroom
design. This is a good follow-up OSM mapper project, related to our upcoming
POI application. Many visitors are very peculiar about this attribute! I
have SOME limited data about what toilet does what, but not enough to make a
global edit without visiting each one! You can assume, of course, that some
are pit toilets, such as the ones on top of Leconte and Clingmans Dome.

5. Some duplicate Peaks are present:

a. Chinquapin Knob

6. Corrected 8 duplicate peak name/locations. There are many peak names
that ARE duplicate, but that is the correct name, peaks in different
locations. Thanks for pointing that out.

7. Is that a cemetary or a grave yard?

a. landuse=cemetery

8. Corrected: Cemeteries associated with existing or ruined churches
are tagged as graveyard, all other "cemetery"

9. Odd tagging

a. Cades Cove Campground and Shelter: Toilets at the corners of their
buildings.

10. Not seeing this.? I did find some random nodes tagged "source=NPS"
(fixed). We initially tagged building nodes with amenity, this should have
been resolved.

Long and repetitive road names:

Elkmont Campground Road A

Elkmont Campground Road G
Cades Cove Campgruond Segment H

Perhaps the long name could go into official_name, with the name= left
blank?

For:

amenity=toilets

Do you know if it is toilets:disposal=pitlatrine?

Some duplicate Peaks are present:

Chinquapin Knob

Is that a cemetary or a grave yard?

landuse=cemetery

Odd tagging

Cades Cove Campground and Shelter

Toilets at the corners of their buildings.

----------------------------

The only systemic issue I see is the placement of amenity information on
building nodes, rather than on the way.

That and excessive points on some ways...

At the Import-US meeting we attended (last month?), we agreed we would cease
piece-mealing our import and would instead continue work offline, and post
our OSM file to the community to comment on. As evident by list serve
postings, there is still some discussion about how to tag, what, etc.
