[Imports] optimize shape or osm file?

Hi 

We have data available for California with detailed vegetation info. there are some improvements I'd like to do before any upload.
1) all straight lines have multiple points. Any batch command to simplify and delete redundant nodes. Essentially same like the simplify in Josm or Potlatch?
2) the data has a resolution of approx. 5m and all points are snapped to this grid. Rendering in high resolution doesn't look very good this way. Ideally some rounding of edges with a spline interpolation could improve the rendering in a great way. I know it contradicts  1) because it will introduce more nodes but I think it is worth it.
