I think you meant "with little regard for the geobase data" instead of "with
little regard for the existing data". right?
If so, then yes... we disregard geobase data, and think of it as just some
other mapper from afar who has never actually been there before, or maybe
was, but a long long time ago. :-)
I guess my answer is; Since your local to the data, it's up to your
disgression on how you want to deal with it. ... end result is to make a
better map. Thats why the files are (will be) available todo with as you
please.
Feel free to destroy/mix/change the geobase tags/data is you like. It makes
no difference to the "OSM" map. The data is there to 'help' not to 'hinder'
map development.
