[Imports] How to run Java shp-to-osm?

Why do people still insist on converting, and directly importing?
It makes more sence to 1) Convert the file
2) make the .osm files available
3) tell the community about it, so others can take a look before the
most local people to the data actually 'copy it in' to osm.
Every effort should be made to contact Local area mappers, sharing
with them that data is available. And giving them the chance to work
on it.
Converting the entire dataset to .osm format & sharing where people
can find it. Makes more sence.
Yes! it takes more time this way, but the community is built by local
area mappers, not 'remote mappers'.
There is a difference between 'helping local mappers' and 'dropping
data in without them knowing'.
I (for 1) no longer plan on 'plopping data in', instead focus on just
mapping the area that i plan on actually going.
Garmin Maps can be made directly from OSM files, so its not needed to
have it in the database so fast. (which is what im now doing with the
CanVec .osm files as they continue to be available)
~ a general comment, not at anyone in particular.
Cheers,
Sam
