I'm glad you raised this point.  I agree.  I feel it's important to have seasoned mappers among your import team.  This is why i'm opening the DC import to a broader audience via MappingDC.  Already there are a few people interested in participating.  For DC, Steven Johnson and i will be training DC interns, but i intend to have this training posted online.   This way the training can be refined by experts, learned from, and improved upon. Ideally this documentation can be re-used for future imports.

We'll post it online via GitHub like this: http://mappingdc.github.io/osmbiketrails  unless there's a better idea.

Knowing that DC is a city of transient people, yourself included ;), i hope some DCers will move to new cities and facilitate imports of their own, as you've done.
