Likely because the import is small and "out of the way" ;) I think your
plan is solid, though you should come up with a proper source tag (wiki
page says "source: To be Determined").

Also, your wiki page first says you want to add roof:shape and
roof:material, but later you write "The only data transformations are to
add a new roof:shape tag and a roof:type tag..." - which is it?
