Hi Mateusz,
We will definitely improve the documentation of the import, as Pieter
already said in our second mail. It might be best to add a dedicated
section on "how to deal with external ID tags related to this import",
specifically written for mappers who are NOT involved in the import.
Because the model is not "import once, and maybe do an update later", but
"do a slow and continuous synchronisation" it will result in more and more
updates of already touched objects. So we still not see how this could work
simply and transparently without adding the external ID. I totally
understand the irritation with just copying source data attributes - not
just objectID's (which are usually not even the actual unique ID) but even
default shapefile attributes like area and outline length sometimes
thoughtlessly end up in OSM.
