Hello Frederik,

Absolutely agree, that's why in this import effort we combine what humans do best (judging what's best for humans and preventing from uploading obvious blunders and noise) with what computers do best (boring tracing of uniform objects).

There are numerous examples on OSM when tools were used for tracing natural objects. Look for lakes in Siberia; just an example:  https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/28156205  There were 330 000 objects traced by Scanaerial, a tool that was good for tracing water surfaces but not good enough for other types of nature. We now have better tools, and better data to start from. But we still care about the end result and its usefulness for humans. After all, I started participating in this effort because I wanted a good map of nature for my summer vacation in Sweden's remote areas, and for my weekend-warrior biking tours.
