Hello everyone,
I am working on importing the opening hours for all post offices in France,
based on data published (under ODbL) by the postal service itself, "La Poste",
on a website called datanova.
You can find all the details about this import at
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Import/FrenchPostOfficeOpeningHours
Initially, I would like your OK for importing the opening hours into OSM post
office objects that do not have any information currently about opening hours.
This is the bulk of the import, the data is ready for setting 9132
opening_hours attribute.
The data is updated regularly, I am planning on running an update every month.
In order to only update values set by the import, and not values entered by
actual people, I'll check if the opening_hours in OSM are still the same as
they were at the last time of import, and only update them in that case.
I have discussed this (rather extensively) on the talk-fr mailing-list, there
is a general agreement about the import.
As a second step, we can discuss how to improve the existing data based on the
datanova data, which we have proven (on talk-fr) to be more reliable than
the existing opening_hours in OSM. The wiki page has suggestions about that,
but for now I'm happy to postpone that part (which only concerns a minority of
952 post offices) in order to get an agreement on the main import first and
get that going.
Is there anything else you need to know?
PS: I have tried to follow procedure, so the log in the wiki page for which
wiki pages I updated about this planned import.
