[Imports] LINZ data import: Pastoral Lease layer

Hi Mateusz,

Yes, each area will be for an individually named farm.
However, under NZ law, these farms can only be used for grazing, not for planting crops.

The original proposal was to use landuse=farmland.
Following a discussion on the talk-nz mailing list, the proposal was changed from landuse=farmland to landuse=meadow.

Do you think landuse=farmland is a better choice here?

place=farm is documented as being for individual named farm

Such farm would include not only landuse=meadow but also buildings etc

If you import named meadows then place=farm is wrong

If you import areas that are not only meadows but also buildings etc
then landuse=meadow is wrong

Hi all,

The import of topographic data from Land Infomation New Zealand (LINZ) began in 2009 and is nearing completion, following a long pause.

One of the final layers to be imported is Pastoral Leases. These are huge areas of farmland used for grazing livestock.

Following a discussion on the talk-nz mailing list, the proposed tagging is:
landuse=meadow
meadow=pasture
place=farm
name=*
ref:linz:pastoral_lease_id=*

Due to constraints with OSM’s API, if there are more than 2000 nodes in the area, we will split the area into a multipolygon with multiple outer ways.
