it might eventually be helpful for tools like nominatim that try to associate place names and addresses, but if you think it is irrelevant, just ignore my comment, I am not familiar with addressing in the US

a ZIP code is a ZIP code, just this, a code for postal purposes, it has no reflection on the ground. It may be the same within an area, or in disjoint areas, or scattered points, etc.
