On unix based systems you can even do the update of the .jar for the
user, if you know the location of the jar.
On Mac OS X, download the new .jar, you would move the current .jar
to the trash, then move the new jar into the location of the
current .jar. Finally you would request the user to restart JOSM. (OR
maybe even manage to do that for the use. I believe that due to the
way that file handles are done on windows based systems this process
is actually impossible, and a different method is required.
