Some things about the plugin auto update mechanism are badly broken,
too often it just doesn't notice that there is something new.
Unfortunately I don't know which bits are broken ;-) the whole thing
is not really that well designed (hope I'm not stepping on anyone's
toes) and could use an overhaul I believe.
