Ok, you are right. But my gripe with this behaviour is that I always have to 
press an additional key if I only want to add a node.
Can someone please understand that that is an unwanted situation and that there 
is a need for a mode where you can just click and only a node appears and no 
line that stems from it?
Shift-click is not this mode because it does create this line.
