Hi all,
I am a casual user of JOSM. Please forgive that I didn't use either
the talk mailing list or the newbies mailing list as I see talk having
a broad overviewish agenda and newbies (for well newbies). While it
would have been nice to have a josm-users ML but since that is not
there had to take recourse to this one. Also please CC me as I have
disabled the ML as I have too many ML's that I have signed up for and
hence disable projects sending mail which results in more unread
posts/threads .

I see/saw that JOSM has started doing summarized changelogs since
early this year[0] [1]. Is it possible to get summarized blogs from
2k5 onwards when JOSM started its development [2] ? . The thing is I
put up a bug-report [3] which was negated because the maintainer
felt/saw that there is no user-friendly changelog. It would be nicer
if we can get a bit more history on the tool.

I do have few more questions as well. Is there any move to move to git
entirely . I do see that you have both the svn [4] and git [5] vcs
versions happily co-existing it would be nice perhaps to have
everything in git by default . One of the off-shoots of such a move
would be having logs would be cinch as well as branching and trying
new things might become easier. I am sure the devs. have already done
quite a bit of comparative analysis of the two tools hence would be
nice to know. I do know as it stands that right now SVN is the
preferred/official VCS.

One of the more interesting bits of the project was when I was reading
was the releases documentation [6]. It would be nicer/would have been
nicer if this info. would be in the Startup page somewhere [7]
especially the point that 'JOSM does not have a version number really
(it is 1.5 for some years now), but uses the always increasing version
of source code repository. '

Just my 2 paise. Any light on any or all the above topics would be
deeply appreciable. Looking forward to some guidance.
