There was a bug I introduced in r5099 that caused the behaviour you
describe. It’s been fixed for a while now (r5106) and I can no longer
reproduce it.

In any way, the change was not intentional. If you can provide steps to
reproduce in a recent latest, it would be nice if you could open a
ticket and add me to the CC list.
