Hi
If we run the same software as the rest of OSM, we will build up knowledge
on how to do it. Perhaps report a few bugs. And that knowledge will be
useful if anyone wants to set up a private server. I think Brett Henderson
did this for the Burma relief effort.
The only real concern that the community can have is if community members
waste time on PD, esp. duplicating stuff. For example tracing stuff that
already exists on the main server. But my intention is to mainly to upload
data already collected with gosmore without any editing, which will be
pretty quick.
I like WTFPL and CC-Zero sounds interesting. But being a community project
we really need something very simple. Many people have already seen the
wikipedia-pd license and it does not even sound like a legal statement. If
the things that other licenses address like moral rights are really that
important, other projects will have asked their members to abandon them long
ago.
All I'm interested at this point is the server. Thinks like potlatch, mapnik
and tah can wait. Perhaps one day someone will need PD data and then we at
least have something.
Regards,
Nic

I think there was agreement on that
