[Legal-general] Who would start using an OSM PD repository?

I don't know anything about USGS(but they won't host any other data
than US data I guess). 
Though I would like to get started in some way. Even if it is a tiny amount of data
as a start.

I've thought of this "non-high-technology" folder structure myself,
setting up a personal CC0 data set. If I add too much data though
the osm files might get too big, and might be too cumbersome to
maintain them, so I think I will begin with learning some basics
(or more) about interacting with databases.
