[OSM-legal-talk] New user signup / license non-exclusive

Hi,
at least one person I know has misread the message on account signup:
"By creating an account, you agree that all work uploaded to
openstreetmap.org and all data created by use of any tools which connect
to openstreetmap.org is to be licensed under this Creative Commons
license (by-sa)"
to mean that the data is *exclusively* licensed under cc-by-sa, and he
therefore loses the option of *also* licensing his own work under
another license.
This is of course wrong (and not even possible in some jurisdictions).
For the avoidance of doubt I suggest inserting the word
"non-exclusively" into above sentence, yielding
"By creating an account, you agree that all work uploaded to
openstreetmap.org and all data created by use of any tools which connect
to openstreetmap.org is to be (non-exclusively) licensed under this
Creative Commons license (by-sa)"
I have taken the liberty of actually making this change in SVN, but
you're welcome to find better ways to remove the ambiguity.
I also believe that the sentence about "any tools which connect to
openstreetmap.org" is misleading, since connecting to openstreetmap.org
(with a web browser reading the Wiki?) does not in itself trigger the
virulent data license, but I didn't feel like changing that as well.
Bye
Frederik
