I’m probably one of those share-alike supporters you speak of. Making
sure my “contributions never end up in the hands of those evil big
business” has never been an aim. I think businesses should be able to
use the data in the same way as everyone else. They can make lots of
money from all of my hard work too, as long as they respect the
share-alike.
If I did want to discriminate against businesses that might want to make
money from the work (and I thought that “commercial use” was a well
enough defined term suitable for a license), I would be advocating
something similar to CC-by-nc (attribution, non-commercial).
