You seem to have a lot of anger toward garmin. That doesn't really
pursuade other people.

Even assuming we make a complete set of maps under a share-alike
license as you suggest, there will always be a market for companies
like garmin to peddle their wares. People who can't or won't share
back will license garmin's data. A PD set of data would remove
garmin's market entirely. Who would buy maps from them when they can
get ours for free?

I am not motivated by your anger, but even if I was, I would prefer PD maps.
