[Local-chapters] Starting Over

Hi,
I think I need to introduce myself :-)

I started lurking on this list a couple of months ago.. I'm currently
the president of Wikimedia Italia and one of its founder.
I subscribed this list because Wikimedia Italia was a possible
candidate as OSM italian chapter.

That's not completely true. We can participate in fundraising together
with Wikimedia Foundation and share money. The same happens if we
"bring" a biz agreement (for instance, in Italy, we had a Wikipedia
dvd sold by a publisher - not the chapter! - and the publisher paid
some royalties just to have the Wikipedia logo on the cover of the
dvd).
Recently Wikimedia Foundation starts to offer grants for specific
project to Chapters too; but usually chapters are self-financed
entities.
