In fact, if I save a monthly archive directly from Firefox or Chromium,
it will put «Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate» in the HTTP header, and the
received data will be double-compressed.

============

GET /pipermail/talk-ja/2012-November.txt.gz HTTP/1.1

Accept-Ranges: bytes
Vary: Accept-Encoding
Content-Encoding: gzip
Content-Length: 5667

============

If I download using «wget», Rekonk or the add-on «download helper»,
«Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate» will not be in the HTTP header and the
received data will be correct.

============

I wonder if it's a bug of the two browsers or a misconfiguration of the
server…

Cheers,
Fabien
