[OSM-newbies] Other uses for OSM

Hello all,

My driving around and mapping adventures has generated a little curiosity in the community. I have been asked a question and thought I would relay it here for some input before answering it.

Can OSM be used to mark property boundaries for the use in county and city records. Obviously the answer seems to be yes, OSM can record these features. On the other hand this type information would be no use to the regular person looking around OSM. Can a small autonomous OSM like service be set up to cater to this need. I and a few others in the community can supply the needed resources. The next question would be what would be required to do such a project.
