That script seems to do it right for trkpt elements:
	    f.write('<trkpt lat="%(lat).5f" lon="%(lon).5f" speed="%(speed)f">' 
% pt)
	    f.write('<time>%(isotime)s</time></trkpt>\n' % pt)
so you already fixed it, i guess?

btw: you could contribute the code to gpsbabel.org so future versions 
could support that format if the device can't be convinced to log in 
some other, more common format (nmea)
