[OSM-newbies] Java version?

There is some correlation between different naming naming convention.
Developers tend to use the ones with dot and Sun's marketing
department the integer version. What you should remember that all new
Java releases are fully backwards compatible so the latest version
should always work.
Here is a quick list of different version numbers:
1.0
1.1
1.2 -> Java 2
1.3
1.4
1.5 -> Java 5 (Josm requires at least this)
1.6 -> Java 6 (but this works too and should have some performance improvements)
