[OSM-newbies] JOSM colors & mappaint

Hi,

I have been editing (adding ways) in potlatch as mappaint in JOSM always
crashes. Moreover, when JOSM is downloading data from OSM, I get my points
in nice bright red, and my ways in blue. But once all the data is loaded,
everything becomes a shade of grey.

Would anyone know how to have better color in JOSM? I like to use JOSM to
add tags and values, but have so far found potlatch easier to generate and
merge ways.
