Thank you for the link to the
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/Map_Features page. I will read
it carefully.

Thank you also for the suggestions on finding nearby mappers. I'll
take a stab at making a user page.

O.K. - I thought a common set of tags might be useful for transforming
OSM data into other GIS formats. I'll think about this some more when
I become more familiar with how tags work.
