I couldn't get that to work at all.
gpsbabel -w -t -i garmin -f /dev/ttyUSB0: -o gpx -F "newtrack.gpx"
[ERROR] XSERIAL: Cannot open serial port '/dev/ttyUSB0:': No such file or
directory
[ERROR] Cannot open serial port '/dev/ttyUSB0:'
GARMIN:Can't init /dev/ttyUSB0:
Nor did
gpsbabel -t -i garmin -f usb: -o gpx -F track1.gpx
suggested by Christoph, which said it found no usb devices. However, going
back to my original command I got what looked a much bigger file than the
original one. On examining it, however, it only showed two minutes on the
day we walked. The rest is stationary, last night, while I was finding the
setup bits we talked about.
I can't understand why the map screen shows a trace of the walk, if it's not
recorded. The waypoints are all there. I did notice that there are three
waypoints that appear to belong to Garmin. I'll have to make sure that they
are removed.
I'm preparing for my holidays, so have little time now. I may manage to clear
everything and try walking one more time, today if the weather allows. If I
still don't get a decent log we'll leave it for a couple of weeks until I get
back.
