[OSM-newbies] bridge tagging in JOSM

Harald,
This is because there are no segments anymore. The ways (polylines) consist
only of an ordered list of nodes. To tag a way as a bridge (bridge=true|yes)
you need to make the way the length of the bridge, usually by breaking the
existing way into more than one part.
In theory it is possible to use the relationship element to define a bridge
between two nodes and use that information to render a bridge on a
particular way, however that's not really in keeping with the method of
mapping the physical properties separately on the ground. Since the bridge
is a separate entity along a road its logical to have it as a separate way
with its own tags.
Trust this helps
Cheers
