I'm not sure why you'd want to, but yes..
I just leave it recording, & turn the unit off when I get near home or
leave my area of interest to stop it recording.

You'll need to clear the track log occasionally; just when is best is
dependant on your system & technique.

It won't warn you if the log is running out of space - it is quite
possible to map for hours & find it's not recorded if you forget!
