[OSM-newbies] How do you permanently delete stuff in JOSM (stop itbeing saved as history?)

If you didn't upload the deletes to the OSM server then the objects remain
flagged for delete in the .osm file when you save it. Kosmos presumably is
not clever enough to ignore those objects which are set for deletion.
