[OSM-newbies] How do you permanently delete stuff in JOSM (stop itbeing saved as history?)

The OSM files are normal XML files, open them using a text editor. Now
delete all ways/nodes/relations that contain the deleted=true
attribute. I can't recommend a good XML editor that would do that for
you, but you might want to have a look. JOSM does not have an internal
function to clean up history.
