[OSM-newbies] JOSM and segment lengths

I am investigating routing anomalies as I find them.  All parameters between two sections of road being the same, I assume one section might be preferred because it is shorter.  Is there a means in JOSM of obtaining the length of a segment or segments so that a comparison might be made?
