Here's where I find the black and white turning into shades of grey...
We are told that we can not copy names of roads off of the copyright
maps. However, looking at a map to determine different road
classifications and such is an acceptable practice. I don't see how
one can work on creating an OSM map without violating some type of
copyright laws. One would have not looked at any map at all so as to
not attempt to duplicate what they have seen previously.
We all know what maps look like, and what we would like the OSM map to
look like. One could argue that you are copying the "look and feel" of
their map.
